Qigong & Tai Chi with Richard Edwards

Qigong is a Healing Art. It is also an important branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine known as “Chinese Yoga” and has significant similarities to Tai Chi, as both work on Qi and life. In a practice, body movement, breathing techniques, sound meditation and mind activity are used to directly work on Qi – our energy or life force. Practiced by millions worldwide, Qigong is a powerful and effective tool for preventing illness and improving health. It strengthens and balances the whole body, including the organs and the immune system. It helps to calm the mind so the practitioner can find a balanced, relaxed and harmonious state more easily and more often. When in a state of physical, mental and emotional balance, we are better able to meet all kinds of challenges in life.

This session will involve coordination exercises, use of the spine, working in parallel and turned out position and give the dancers a sense of freedom and change of dynamics. Music from across genres and decades are used to change the pace and create different moods.

Dancing in this way requires a lovely blend of brain and body coordination which will lead to a real sense of achievement.

Guided Walks - Epping Forest with Karen Williams

THURSDAYS 10:00 - 12:00


Come and join us for a walk in Epping Forest and the surrounding countryside.  A sanctuary, where time slows and with each step the everyday stresses and anxieties will fall away. Get out into the fresh air, meet new friends and soak up the beautiful landscape, one step at a time.

What you need to know:

The walks take place every Thursday 10am to 12noon

All our walks are circular meaning they start and finish at the same point and start from a variety of locations. We negotiate, various terrains, including hills, mud and the occasional obstacle. The walks last approximately 2 hour and cover a distance of between  4 to 5 miles.

Walking boots are required, especially in the winter months. Trainers are unsuitable.

Once you have enrolled on our Forest Walks the tutor will contact you to ensure you are ready to get walking

Gentle Yoga with Kim Doyle

THURSDAY 10:00 - 11:30

This Gentle Yoga class (Hatha method) will start with some Pranayama (breathwork), then after a warm up, we will focus on strengthening the muscles and encouraging flexibility of your body tissues by using the breath to hold and deepen the Asanas (poses). The use of props will be offered, thus allowing you to discover new ways of exploring your own body's availabilities to yoga safely.  Friendly and supportive classes for all skill levels.

Aerobics with Jennifer Humm

MONDAYS 19:30 - 20:30

Jennifer has been teaching aerobics since 2004 and she describes her style of teaching as ‘old fashioned’ aerobics but without the leotard and leg warmers! Jennifer teaches adults (18+) and welcomes people with all levels of fitness. To keep the class fresh, she changes both the short aerobic routine weekly and the music. She also incorporates small handheld weights and floor exercises into the class to give participants a full body workout. Jennifer loves all sorts of music and the collection ranges from 60s to modern day pop. As well as exercise, her classes are a great way to make friends and socialise. Materials: For health and safety reasons learners are expected to bring their own weights and mat.
