Legacy

Help us plan for the future of Bedford House Community Association (BHCA) and its future students. We would be delighted to discuss your options with you; please contact us on 020 504 668 or email admin@bedfordhouse.org.uk. We recommend you seek professional advice if you do decide to leave a gift in your Will to BHCA.

Reduce your rate of inheritance tax. A gift to BHCA in your Will won’t be counted towards inheritance tax, reducing what your beneficiaries have to pay or removing inheritance tax liability. Anyone leaving 10% of their estate to charity may qualify for reduced rate of inheritance tax – 36% rather than 40%. Please see www.gov.uk/inheritance-tax for more information.

BHCA has charitable status for all UK tax purposes (Registered Charity CIO No.1178692 England and Wales, Registered Company CE014491) in accordance with the Charities Act 2011.

There are several different ways in which you can choose to support BHCA in your Will:

  • A residuary gift is a contribution of the remainder of an estate once other gifts and payments have been made.

  • A pecuniary giftis a fixed sum of money specified in your Will.

  • Aspecific gift refers to a named item, such as a piece of equipment or property.

  • A reversionary gift allows you to leave assets for the care of a loved one for the duration of their life. When they die, your gift will then go to your chosen charitable recipient

If you would like to direct your gift to a particular area of BHCA we will endeavour to accommodate your wishes.

Your solicitor could use the following as a guideline for including BHCA in your Will:

“I give to Bedford House Community Association, registered charity number 1178692) of 4 Westbury Road, Buckhurst Hill, Essex, IG9 5NW, [insert a fixed amount] or [insert specified percentage of my residuary estate] to be applied to [insert general purposes/preferred area] of the said charity and I declare that the receipt of the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer or Finance Officer of the said charity for the time being shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my Executors.”

Thank you for considering leaving a gift to BHCA. Your generosity is appreciated and please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
