General FAQs:

What will I learn?

We will be painting washes onto paper and looking at paint effects and how to mix colours so that your knowledge and experience can grow. This can then be developed into painting images that interest you.

How will the course be delivered?

The course will be delivered through demonstrations and individual advice given whilst you work. The aim is to create a helpful supportive environment so that all the learners feel involved and engaged in the activities.

The tutor will give helpful and practical advice to help you develop your interests and techniques every lesson.

What will I need to bring?

To start watercolour painting you only need a basic set of paints – i.e. cobalt blue, ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow and a permanent magenta or an alizarin red. A Vandyke brown and yellow ochre would also be useful. A plastic water pot (NOT glass) a mixing pallet and nylon brushes sizes 6 and 10. Watercolour paper pad size A4 or A3, plus a 2B pencil and a graphite rubber. If you would like to underpaint and work with negative painting, then you will need a Cobalt Violet as well.
