Beginners and more advanced students in both clay and printmaking are welcome
A technique for transferring drawn/collaged/photographic images onto a ceramic surface which is then fired. The process will be demonstrated and then you will be able to transfer your own personalised images onto flat slabs/tiles of clay. (A small additional charge is made for firing work.)
What experience do I need for this workshop?
No previous experience in working with clay needed for this workshop.
What will I learn in this workshop?
A technique for transferring drawn, collaged or photographic images onto a ceramic surface which is then fired. This process will be demonstrated and an opportunity given to transfer your own personalised images onto flat slabs/tiles of clay.
What do I need to bring?
Black and white photocopies of your own photos or drawings.
If you have access to a computer and are familiar with an art/image editing programme you can adjust to produce high contrast pictures.
You can also use pictures that you have photocopied from a book or magazine, which are high in contrast.
NB. IMAGES/PICTURES FROM YOUR COMPUTER PRINTER DO NOT WORK WITH THIS PROCESS, SO THEY MUST BE PHOTOCOPIED,
Apron.Notebook/sketchbookPlastic bags for storing work – small bin liners are ideal.
Bring a packed lunch – facilities for making hot drinks are available.
I will have my laptop and specialist printer with me to print pictures from your memory stick, although I cannot spend too much time doing this as it will take time away from the days’ activities, so please come prepared.
A small additional charge is made for firing work.
